The course students are enrolled in may have digital materials that can be accessed in a Canvas course or third-party publisher site (Cengage/McGraw-Hill/Pearson/etc.) This article contains information on the following materials:
Accessing Slingshot Student Portal
Students access their digital course materials through their Slingshot portal by going to https://www.slingshotedu.com/student-login.
Once logged in, students navigate to 'My Course Materials' in the main tab.
Then, students click 'Access Material' next to their digital item. Click it once to remove the lock, then again to reveal the item.
Pro Tip: pop-up blockers may need to allow a new tab to open in the browser.
At times, the Access Material button causes an eBook to load in a new tab. Follow the prompts to access the eBook.
Other times, a tab will load to reveal an access code. Find more instructions for this scenario in the “Obtaining an Access Code in a New Browser Tab” section below.
If an item is a code delivered within the Slingshot account, a code will appear. Copy the code and click Access Material. Find more instructions for this scenario in the “Cengage Unlimited” section below.
Cengage Unlimited
When the Cengage Unlimited page loads, students log in and click the 'Enter Access Code or Course Key' in the top right corner.
Note: students need to log in to their Cengage account or create an account using their UFnet email if they don’t already have one.
Paste the access code that was copied from the Slingshot account.
When the code is redeemed, use the search bar in the top right corner to find the product(s) required for your course. Not sure what text to use in your search? Copy the title from the My Course Material tab.
Find the result in the Cengage Unlimited search results and click “Add to Home.” Then, the item is available by clicking Home in the left column.
If the item is courseware by which coursework is completed, such as MindTap or CNOW, students need to obtain the Course Key from the instructor or access the Cengage (after following the steps above) by using the Module links in the Canvas course.
- If students choose to access courseware by using the Course Key, just click on the “Enter Access Code or Course Key” link next to the search box in the top right corner.
- If students access courseware by using the Module links in the course LMS, they will need to log in to Cengage using the Cengage account mentioned above.
