Please follow these steps to link to your course content from Slingshot into your Canvas course:



Retrieve Slingshot Direct URL from Slingshot Pro 

  1. To retrieve a link that will direct the student directly into their course material, log in to Slingshot Pro.
  2. You can find your institution’s Pro login screen by going here and searching for your institution - https://www.slingshotedu.com/admin-login.  After you have logged in, click on “Section Research” on the left-hand navigation bar. 
  3. Click on the name of the section needed for the course material URL. If you can’t find the section, use the filters at the top of the page, or reach out to Slingshot customer service for assistance. 
  4. Click on the Course Materials tab.
  5. Find the course material that you want to link to and copy the URL next to “LTI Material URL:”. It should look something like https://direct.slingshotedu.com/lti/material/9780521689380 

  1. **Note – This link is unique to the course material, so don’t use the example above even if your link looks similar. 


Add Slingshot LTI Link to a Course 

  1. In a Course, click the “Modules” link in the Course Navigation.
  2. In the Module where you’d like to add the link, click the “+” button in the module header. 
  3. In the “Add” drop-down menu, select “External Tool”. 
  4. Find the “Slingshot Course Materials”.
  5. Fill in the following information:
    1. URL: Remove the prepopulated URL and use the URL retrieved from Slinghshot Pro.  If you want to link to Slingshot's Course Materials page and not to the specific course material, you can use this URL - https://direct.slingshotedu.com/lti/studentMaterial/
    2. Page Name:  Remove the prepopulated text and change it to the name of the course material you are linking.
    3. Load in a new tab:  Enable this by clicking the checkbox
  6. Click on the "Add Item" button.
  7. Click on the link that was just created to make sure that it works.
  8. You will see a message that looks similar to the screenshot below, showing that the course material connection was successfully set up.


A student will be redirected to their course materials, but since your Slingshot account doesn't have this course material in it and you are an instructor or administrator in your LMS, you see this message instead.  Verify that the course material that you see matches the one that you want to link to. Assuming that it does, you have set everything up properly.
