The University of Findlay Canvas LMS will only have 3 years of courses, including the current year. Between the months of August and December each academic year, any course older than 3 years from the Fall term will be removed from the server.
Any faculty member may export a course they have access to with a teacher role. It is suggested to store a course export to your personal UF OneDrive location. This will allow you to re-import this course into any current, future, or sandbox course where you have teacher access.
To export a Canvas course, please follow these steps:
- Navigate to the course that you wish to export and save.
- Select Settings from the course menu.
- On the right pane, select Export Course Content.
- Select the radial button 'Course' and select 'Create Export'.
- Once the export is ready, a new download link will be available at the top of the export page.
- Click the available export link, and save the .imscc file to your OneDrive.
The .imscc file is a Canvas export compressed file of the course, which only the Canvas system can read. If you attempt to open this file on your computer, the contents will not be able to be opened or viewed.
The current ITS Canvas Course Creation and Removal Policy v1.0 (Effective 10-2023) is available in Workday found under the Workday Resources for Fac/Staff-->ITS Policies section.
