Begin by logging into your UF email account on your computer or smartphone

It should ask for more information and will guide you through the setup process for the Microsoft Authenticator

To install Authenticator on your iOS device

Scan the QR code

or download and install Authenticator from the Apple app store.

To install Authenticator on your Android device

Scan the QR code

or download and install Authenticator from the Google Play store.



You can click Next through the prompts to set up your Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone with the QR code that should be displayed on your computer.

If you are on your Smartphone the screen should look like this:


If you are using a computer and have a qr code, open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your phone, tap + to add an account, then tap "Other account" or "Scan qr code".

Approve the app to use your camera when prompted.


If you are using your smartphone and have already installed the Microsoft Authenticator app, tap the sentence "Pair your account to the app by clicking this link". Your smartphone will open the Microsoft Authenticator app and pair your account. Return to the browser and it will test your settings before saving.

 

On your computer, click Next then the system will test the app and if successful.


Once this has been completed, you should be logged in to your account.


How to remove Face ID or PIN requirement


In the Authenticator app on your device, tap the menu button in the top left (iPhone) or top right (Android)

iPhone:

Tap settings.

Scroll down and locate 'App Lock' and turn it off (if it is already off turn it on and back off or it will turn on in the future).

NOTE: By turning this off you will be able to utilize other smart devices to approve your login.  If you leave it on you will be required to put in your phone lock code every time you need to approve the login.



Changing Settings before getting a new Smartphone

  1. Login to your email account.
  2. In the top right click on your account picture.
  3. Click on the "View account" link.
  4. Under the "Security Info" card click on "Update info".
  5. To add a new device click on "Add sign-in method". 


How to use MFA app when your phone does not have internet access

  1. Login to your email
  2. When prompted to approve the notification click the "I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now" Link
  3. Click "Use a verification code"
  4. Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone
  5. Tap your UF entry in the app
  6. Use the "One-time password code" in this box
