Downloading Respondus LockDown Browser
The University of Findlay utilizes Respondus LockDown Browser as a proctoring tool for examinations conducted within Canvas. This software will be offered to a student when they attempt to take a quiz in Canvas. However, Respondus can be downloaded for Windows, Mac, or Chromebook devices at our institution. Please use the following link to download the required installer:
Once the installation is complete, Respondus LockDown Browser will automatically activate when students attempt a quiz in Canvas, specifically when using the New Quizzes tool.
Even though we no longer allow for Classic Quizzes to be created in Canvas, it is possible there may still be some active in Canvas. Until these quizzes are converted to a New Quiz, the interaction with Respondus and these quizzes are different. In the case of taking a Classic Quiz, it is imperative for students to manually launch LockDown Browser first before accessing the course and exam. To do this, please follow these steps:
- Launch Respondus LockDown Browser.
- Sign in to Canvas using your UFnet username and password.
- Navigate to your course and locate the quiz you wish to take.
Failure to launch Respondus LockDown Browser before attempting a Classic Quiz exam will result in the following message being displayed to the student:
