Term dates within Canvas are set by our University of Findlay database. The terms are as follows:
|Fall||Aug 8th - Dec 19th|
|Spring||Jan 6th - May 9th|
|Summer||May 5th - Aug 28th|
If you have published your course before the start of the term, students will be able to enter the course but will not be able to see or interact with the course data until the start date of that term. Courses will automatically conclude at the end of it's designated term date. This will move your course into an archive state to where it can no longer be updated but can still be accessed. If for some reason start your course earlier or need to extend the time that you or your students need to make changes in your course, you may override the session term dates. To do this, navigate to your course Settings and locate the term start and end date fields within the Course Details.
Once you have entered in the dates that you require, make sure you select the check box that states 'Users can only participate in the course between these dates. This will override any term availability settings'. Once changed, click the Update Course Details button at the bottom of the screen. Make sure that you enter an End Date or the course will be open indefinitely.
**IMPORTANT** If the course concludes before changes are made, please submit a ticket to firstname.lastname@example.org.
